Godard at the Beach

A Weekend at the Beach (Ira Schneider, 1979)

Notice the slightly derogatory commentary (“Yeh, that one’s Godard”), as well as Godard’s name spelled incorrectly in the end credits (“Goddard”). As an explanation, Schneider claims that, shortly before editing, he had just seen some of Godard’s “political/very wordy films which he couldn’t stand”. Interesting to see Jim McBride, who a few years later would “remake” A bout de souffle as Breathless (1983). Wim Wenders seems a bit overdressed. Some nice ink on Gorin.
